On August 27, 2021, Zhang Ping, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Beijing Energy International Holdings Co., Ltd., visited Zheng Sheng’an, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, and held a discussion on further deepening cooperation. The meeting was also attended by Chief Engineer Peng Caide, Deputy General Manager Yi Yuechun, Assistant General Manager Zhao Zenghai, Deputy Chief Engineer and Director of the Environmental Protection Department Xue Lianfang, Director of the Dean’s Office and Director of the Science and Technology Standards Department Peng Shuojun, Director of the Planning Department Yan Bingzhong, staff of the New Energy Department Zhang Lei, and staff of the Information Data Center Liu Jiandong of the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, and Vice Presidents Huang Hui, Jia Geng and Wang Liuhu, Investment Director Zhao Li of Beijing Energy International, and General Manager Lei Muchuan of Southwest Regional Company and Tibet Energy Company of Beijing Energy International.





At the meeting the two sides focused on discussions on the hydropower planning and development work of Beijing Energy International in the river basin in Tibet, and explored the feasibility of multi-energy complementary clean energy base planning. In addition, the two sides exchanged ideas on the development of domestic pumped storage projects, and investment and development of new energy and integrated energy projects.

Zheng Sheng’an said that the responsibility of the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute is to provide services for the development of the electric energy industry and promotion of the projects. The institute is willing to provide assistance to Beijing Energy International in the follow-up policy understanding, market research and analysis, and project implementation consulting services. He put forward the following recommendations: first is to make the hydropower planning and development schedule in the river basin in Tibet more specific; second is to focus on the power grids’ load center and the areas rich in new energy resources in the development of pumped storage projects; third is to fully demonstrate the local consumption capacity or outward transmission channel building in the large-scale new energy bases; fourth is to form a synergy with the relevant design institutes and power construction units of PowerChina.

Zhang Ping thanked the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute for its long-term strong support to Beijing Energy International, and expressed his hope that the institute will continue to provide his company with professional guidance and support on the development of hydropower resources in Tibet, the planning of multi-energy complementary bases, and the planning and site selection of pumped storage projects. Zhang Ping said that as a pilot enterprise for the reform of state-owned capital investment company, Beijing Energy International enjoys flexible systems and mechanisms and rich market resources. It will keep focusing on clean and low-carbon energy development and follow the path of sustainable development. It will later establish a mechanism of regular exchanges with the institute to strengthen the alignment with the institute in the construction of large-scale base projects and jointly promote the implementation of corresponding project resources.
