On December 3, Beijing Energy International successfully achieved full-capacity grid connection for its 75 MW Yila Agrivoltaics Project in Yuanjiang County, Yuxi City, Yunnan. This marks another significant milestone in the company’s independent development and construction efforts within the province.
The project covers an area of 1,049 mu (approximately 172 acres). It features a 220-kV step-up substation and adopts the agrivoltaics model, seamlessly integrating photovoltaic power generation with agricultural cultivation. This dual-use approach efficiently achieves a green and sustainable model where electricity is generated above while crops are grown below. During the project’s construction, the team overcame significant challenges, including rugged terrain and steep slopes. Through collective effort and determination, they successfully completed the project’s full-capacity grid connection.
Upon commissioning, the project is expected to generate approximately 130 million kWh of green electricity annually, equivalent to saving about 68,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 136,000 tons. With notable economic and social benefits, the project will contribute to the local energy transition and support Yunnan in achieving its dual carbon goals ahead of schedule.
