On July 28, 2023, the review meeting of Beijing Energy International’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report on Hydropower Planning in Xizang CYQ Basin was successfully held in Chengdu. The meeting was organized by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Xizang Autonomous Region and the Energy Bureau of Xizang Autonomous Region and was presided over by the Deputy Director General of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Xizang Autonomous Region, Shui Yanping.
Accelerating the hydropower development in Xizang basin is an important measure for the company to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 7th Xizang Work Forum of the CPC Central Committee and the spirit of the 3rd Work Conference on Pairing-up Support for Xizang, accelerate the deployment of clean energy base construction of the 10th Party Congress of Xizang and the overall work arrangement of Beijing’s assistance to Xizang. Focusing on the company’s own strategic deployment of clean energy, and it is comprehensively increasing energy investment in Xizang to support its economic and social development. Having passed the EIA Report review is a milestone in developing hydropower resources in the CYQ basin for the company, and a key achievement for the company to comprehensively develop hydropower resources in Xizang, laying a solid foundation for it to promote the rapid cascade development of the Xizang basin.
In the next stage, the company will accelerate the preliminary work of hydropower development in CYQ basin according to the relevant requirements of the Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation for Beijing’s Assistance to Xizang, comprehensively promote the preliminary work of the approval of cascade hydropower stations in the basin and build a demonstration zone for renewable energy utilization as soon as possible to help Xizang create socioeconomic benefits.
Experts and representatives from Xizang Autonomous Region and Linzhi Municipal Government and PowerChina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation Ltd., Huang Hui, vice president of Beijing Energy International, and Zhang Bo, general manager of Beijing Energy International’s Zangneng Company attended the meeting.
