On July 4, Beijing Energy International’s Dangwan 50 MW/100 MWh energy storage project in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, successfully connected to power grid. This project is the first grid-side energy storage power station constructed by the company in Zhejiang and the first 110 kV electrochemical energy storage project in Xiaoshan District.
The project covers a total area of approximately 10.17 mu (about 1.675 acres) and includes the construction of a 50 MW/100 MWh lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage equipment area, a 110 kV booster substation, and two 35 kV collection lines. A new 110 kV outgoing transmission line which was “T-branched” to the Jianwan 1244 line, including 0.41 km of overhead lines and 1.24 km of underground cables. The main equipment of the energy storage system includes lithium iron phosphate batteries, integrated PCS booster cabins, etc., using a 1500 V DC system and liquid cooling technology.
Once completed, the project will help alleviate the peak shaving pressure on the Xiaoshan power grid, ensuring regional power supply security and stability. On February 21 of this year, the project was included in the list of new energy storage demonstration projects in Zhejiang. The operational scope of the project covers capacity leasing, spot trading, peak shaving and valley filling auxiliary services, and frequency regulation assistance.
After it is put into operation, it will effectively enhance local power grid’s regulation capability, meet the region’s peak power demand regulation needs, and ensure the successful completion of Zhejiang’s new energy storage target for the summer peak of 2024, providing strong support for achieving the dual carbon goals.
