On September 11, Liu Guoxi, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Trade Union of Beijing Energy International, met with Ms. Mwangi Dorcas Mugure, Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), and her delegation in Beijing. The two parties held discussions on in-depth cooperation in the field of new energy.
During the meeting, Ms. Mwangi Dorcas Mugure introduced Kenya’s quality resource endowment and the current energy needs of KTDA’s tea plantations. She expressed a willingness to explore green and sustainable energy cooperation with the company and hoped to establish deep cooperation in areas such as hydropower, photovoltaics, and energy storage.
Liu Guoxi welcomed Ms. Mwangi Dorcas Mugure and her delegation and provided an overview of the company’s recent achievements and overseas development plans. He noted that the upcoming 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation would elevate China-Africa relations to new heights and set clear directions and goals for future China-Africa energy cooperation. Liu emphasized that the company has extensive experience in clean energy investment and operation and is capable of providing Kenya with various coordinated energy solutions, including hydropower, tea-solar synergy, and energy storage. He expressed hope that the meeting would serve as an opportunity to establish a long-term communication mechanism and continuously strengthen cooperation to achieve effective results.
Thuku Mwangi Kanja, General Manager of Operations at KTDA, Apiri Walter Bosire, Board Director, Wachira Peter Gicheru, General Manager of the Power Company, as well as Zhu Shengbo, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Chief Compliance Officer at Beijing Energy International, and Wang Qi, Executive Director of the Beijing Jingneng International Integrated Smart Energy Company, were also present at the meeting.
